Carol Jenkins – Director
Carol has been married to Dr. Cliff Jenkins, Pastor of New Hope Fellowship, for 41 years. They have served together in ministry in many different capacities. Their three grown children, Josh, Melody, and Leslie helped start the church 21 years ago, and have been involved in the ministry, also. Carol has been a counselor, mentor, teacher, pianist, choir director, youth leader, friend, daughter, mother, wife and nurse. After training with the Southern Baptist Mission Board, she was a missionary to Canada for two summers. As a result of this training, she has expertise in the area of Childhood Evangelism. In 1982, after graduating from Nursing School in St. Louis, she became a Registered Nurse. Most of her experience in nursing has been in the area of Home Health. She has gained valuable insight into the needs of the community through 19 years of visiting her patients in their homes, and helping with their medical, physical, mental, emotional, and social needs. It has been a dream of Carol and Cliff’s, since starting the church almost 21 years ago, to begin a ministry to the homeless, vulnerable, needy, poor, and marginalized of our society. This God-given dream is finally becoming a reality with the opening of the House of Hope Rescue Mission. It is Carol’s prayer, as director of the mission that God’s words and commandments will be carried out, by reaching out to others. “To honor Him we must defend the poor and needy.” Jeremiah 22:6. Throughout the Bible, we, as Christians are commanded to help those less fortunate than ourselves. Carol hopes this ministry will give opportunity for volunteers to be a part of something beyond themselves, bigger than themselves.
“He executes justice for the oppressed, and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free, gives sight to the blind, and lifts up those who are bowed down, the Lord loves those who live justly. The Lord watches over the immigrant, and sustains the fatherless and the widow.”
